Update from the ISSO

Dear Students,

We understand this has been a difficult time with the recent events and that communication with the University has been very limited.  We hope all students are safe and have received any emergency assistance if needed.  The Student Health Center in the University Center will be open today 10:30am to 1:00pm for any students who need to see a medical professional. As of today, Monday May 2nd, we ask that students that are traveling this week or students with expiring I-20 records in May come into the office to get travel authorization and/or receive other assistance related to an I-20 extension. University Personnel will only be available in UC 116 from 10:30am to12:30pm today. Please bring your passport and most recent I-20 to share with an advisor.

The University expects to resume normal activities on Wednesday, we ask that students who do not have an emergency need wait until the University reopens to come to the University Center to see an advisor. Students who are unable to come to the University today between 10:30am and 12:30pm should find a way to email visahelp@uah.edu to schedule an individual appointment.  Various locations on campus have power and the University Fitness Center will be open today for students in need of a hot shower. Students are advised that academic buildings are NOT open and they should not be trying to visit academic buildings prior to Wednesday. On campus housing is open for students living on campus only.

Thank you for your patience and please come to the office today between 10:30am and 12:30pm if you need immediate assistance with travel signatures for this week or extension paperwork for I-20's.

Again, if you are unable to come today between 10:30am and 12:30pm please send a detailed email to visahelp@uah.edu to set up an individual appointment for Tuesday. We would also like to be aware of any students who are facing challenges with transportation to the airport to make international flights.

Thank you,
International Student Advisor
