CAMPUS WIDE MEMORIAL SERVICE
The UAHuntsville all-campus memorial service to honor the lives of Dr. Maria Davis, Dr. Adriel Johnson, and Dr. Gopi Podila will take place on Friday, February 19 at 7 pm in Spragins Hall on the UAHuntsville campus. All members of the UAHuntsville community and friends are invited.

WALK-IN ADVISING CHANGES-
This week and again next week when classes resume (FEB.15-26), advisors will be available to students anytime during normal business hours 8:15-5pm. Any student who needs any type of assistance or just needs a place to "be" is encouraged to come by.

As President Williams has stated, "Our faculty, staff, and students are similarly uppermost in our minds, as we all grieve and struggle to come to terms with senseless, unimaginable tragedy... Please know that all our efforts and resources are presently focused on the health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.This tragedy will forever mark UAHuntsville. We must not, however, allow it to define us. We are a resilient community, blessed with great talent, with a solemn responsibility to carry on the education of our youth. For now, it is time to grieve. It will then be time to begin the work of healing and rebuilding, and through our work we will become stronger than ever." IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY PRESENTATION- POSTPONED
NEW DATE APRIL 12, 2010
The presentation from Steve Springer, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed. A confirmed date, time and location will be confirmed shortly and sent in the weekly email announcements.

EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOP RESCHEDULED-
Due to the University being closed on Feb 16th, I have rescheduled the workshop. The new date is
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, UC 116 (ISSO) starting at 9am. Please email visahelp@uah.edu if you are interested in attending this new date.

VITA TAX ASSISTANCE- CHANGE IN DATES
If you earned any income from a U.S. source in 2009 then you will probably have to complete tax forms in addition to the form 8843. To get FREE assistance with completing required tax forms, make an appointment to meet with a VITA tax volunteer at one of the SATURDAY tax sessions.

The tax sessions in 2009 will be held the 5 Saturdays listed below with appointment times available at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 1pm

YOU CAN MAKE A TAX APPOINTMENT AS SOON AS YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE FORM 8843.
TO MAKE A VITA TAX APPOINTMENT:
1. Complete the 8843 form and save it under your full name.

2. Email tax@uah.edu
a. In the subject write "tax appointment".
b. Include your full name and phone number
c. List your top three preferences for an appointment day/time
d. ATTACH the completed form 8843 to the email

3. An email response will be sent to you from tax@uah.edu to confirm your appointment time or suggest a different appointment time if none of your preferences is available.

4. Read the confirmation email to be sure you have the information you need to come prepared to your appointment.

5. If you fail to show up at your designated appointment time, you will not be given another appointment. Email tax@uah.edu 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule. Paper W-2 income statements for individuals employed by UAHuntsville in 2009 were mailed out the last week of January.

The W-2 form is now also available online for employees through Self Service Banner by logging in and going to the Employee Menu, Tax Forms, W-4 Tax Exemptions or Allowances, W2 Year End Earnings Statement and choosing Tax Year 2009. This additional electronic copy is printable from Banner. If you need assistance, please contact the Payroll Office at (256) 824-6021. Payroll can also reprint 2009 W-2s in our office if you would prefer to stop by SKH room 151.
