Reminder: Graduation Application Deadlines

Graduation application deadlines are fast approaching.  
The deadline is October 3, 2011 for Spring 2012 
Undergraduate students. Late fees for those who do
not register and pay by the deadline will be applied.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration 

The Office of Multicultural Affairs will host Andres Lara, 
nationally known speaker, and former president of Inspiration 
Time Magazine as the keynote speaker for two lectures during
the UAHuntsville Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. 
Lara's first lecture will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, 
September 29 in Frank Franz Hall room 138 and 
his second lecture, "How to Turn Setbacks into 
Comebacks: Challenging the Status Quo," will 
be at 7:30 p.m., in the University Center Exhibit 
Hall.  For additional information, contact 
the Office of Multicultural Affairs at (256) 824-6822.

In addition, student organizations and the Office of 
Multicultural Affairs will be celebrating the Latino culture 
on Friday, September 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the slab 
outside the University Center. The event will feature  
free food, music and a piñata.

This conference is a forum for an exchange of
ideas and solutions, as well as workshops which 
will address specific ideas and issues confronting 
both communities and immigrants.

UAH InFocus Trip
  
InFocus invites all students to the Fall 
Break Field Trip to the Country Music 
Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville 
Tennessee on Saturday October 8 2011.

Nashville is a beautiful city and the center 
of the country music. The museum will give 
students the heart of the American culture. 
The group will eat lunch together at a famous 
restaurant, do sightseeing downtown, and enjoy 
the country music at the museum. 
InFocus will provide a school bus for the trip.

Because of limited seats in the bus, those 
interested need to register early by paying
the museum entrance fee. The entrance fee 
is $16.5 but the first 40 registrants will get 
InFocus discount of $15. The registration
deadline is October 3 (Monday).

      -  Ms. Claudia Lynch at Technology Hall,

      - InFocus meeting at the game room of
Charger Village on Thursday (7:00 - 9:00 PM).
Pay the museum entrance  fee at the registration:
      - $15 (for the first 40 people).

UAH Scholarship Application

Please be aware that the UAHuntsville scholarship 
application for the 2012/2013 academic year
 becomes available October 1, 2011. To be 
considered for the first round of departmental 
awards, the priority date for scholarship 
application submission is December 1, 2011. 
UAHuntsville has only one scholarship application 
and it is only available online. The online application 
may be accessed through the following website:
  http://finaid.uah.edu/index.php.

International Festival - Mark Your Calendars for 
Saturday October 29th 2011

The second annual International Festival on
UAH campus will be held onSaturday October 29th.  
Students who would like to set up a table display and/or
perform at the Festival are encouraged to contact 
Belinda Ong, ongb@uah.edu, to learn more.  
Please contact her no later than October 1, 
performances and groups are being set-up 
in preparation for the event.  

Student participation is needed to make this
event a success.  Students from Asia, Africa, Europe,
and Latin America are encouraged to participate
and reflect our diverse population at UAHuntsville.
This event is open to the public and additional
details will be posted on the ISSO blog.
