ISSO Walk-In Advising Hours
The University is open all summer, with the exception of two holidays, Monday May 30th (Memorial Day) and Monday July 4 (Independence Day). Due to decreased staff in the International Student and Scholar Office we are temporarily changing our Walk-In advising hours for the summer. Students who plan on coming to the office to meet with an Advisor do not need an appointment during walk-in times.
Effective tomorrow Friday May 20th, the ISSO will not have walk-in advising hours on Mondays or Fridays. Revised walk-in advising hours will remain in effect until Monday August 14th and are:
Tuesdays
10am to 12pm (NOON) and 1:30 to 4:00pm
Wednesdays
1:30 to 4:00pm
Thursdays
10am to 12pm (NOON) and 1:30 to 4:00pm
The office will not be open for students to meet with an advisor during non walk-in hours unless an appointment is confirmed with an international student advisor. The protocol for dropping off requests and picking up documentation outside of walk-ins will be to take your student ID to Charger Central (UC 118). Should you have questions about your forms or requests please come during walk-in advising hours to be sure you will be able to meet with an advisor.
We do not anticipate a change in processing times and appreciate your understanding in making the office more efficient for the population we serve over the summer semester.
Appointments for the Week of May 31 to June 3
As one international student advisor will be out of the office from May 31 to June 3 for a professional conference advisors request that students plan to make an appointment with Ms. Reva Bailey, baileyr@email.uah.edu if they would like to see an advisor during the week of May 31 to June 3. Any students with ‘urgent’ needs should email baileyr@email.uah.eduvisahelp@uah.edu for guidance.
As we are notifying students over 2 weeks in advance we ask that any requests are dropped off with adequate response time and students do not wait for last minute assistance. AND
Afternoon walk-in advising hours on Tuesday May 31, Wednesday June 1, and Thursday June 2 will be from 1:30 to 4:00pm. All other times will be by appointment only during May 31 to June 3.
F-1 Off Campus Employment Workshops
If you have not attended an off campus employment workshop and are considering working off-campus in an internship or Co-op position or are completing degree requirements in August, sign up today. 2 workshops dates have been scheduled for the summer 2011 semester to accommodate student schedules. Students MUST attend a workshop before an advisor can meet to discuss individual questions.
Email visahelp@uah.edu to reserve your space and please clarify the date of the workshop you wish to attend. All workshops are limited to 10 students each and will be held in Conference Room 116 in MADISON HALL.
