Don’t worry, get help… FREE tax assistance offered by UAH VITA site
All individuals who earn income from a U.S. source are required to pay Federal and State taxes. F and J students and scholars AND any dependents in the US ANY DAY January 1-December 31, 2009, even if you didn’t work in the U.S., must file the form 8843 for each year they are in the U.S. (as a non-resident taxpayer).
DO NOT BUY SOFTWARE PROGRAMS (TURBO TAX ETC…) AVAILABLE ONLINE AND IN THE STORES! NO NEED TO DO YOUR TAXES ALONE! THE UAHUNTSVILLE VITA SITE AND ISSO CAN HELP YOU FOR FREE!
Line by line instructions for form 8843 and a 2009 8843 form that you can download and complete were sent to your uah.edu email address. Follow the instructions titled “8843_Income earned_2009” if you worked in the U.S. in 2009 and if you didn’t work then follow the other 8843 instructions sent to you by email.
If you did not work in the U.S. in 2009 then form 8843 is the ONLY form you must complete to be in tax compliance.
